The Genesis

Vikasa Dhatri started as a bi-lingual monthly developmental magazine in 2005. There was huge applaud from all the sections of the society especially developmental professionals, NGOs, Academic Institutions and book lovers about the topics we chose to educate the public. Vikasa Dhatri provided the grassroots level action taken up by people and how informed choices work in bringing social change. Vikasa Dhatri also facilitated a platform in advocating the pro and con of the change. As environmental educators we realized the felling of trees to produce paper and life cycle analysis of the process made us think about the cost effectiveness and global reach if we publish the same as online magazine. Most importantly if we bring out digital magazine we would be saving the loss of the imprint of the hard book. If we produce soft copies we would be saving the book forever and the reduction of cost in printing.
