Udaya Kumar Gali

Gali Udaya Kumar is an independent Consultant developing IEC material for different Governmental and Non Governmental Organizations. He is an Environmental Educator, Trainer and Consumer Rights Activist.

He served the following organizations in different capacities:

• Translated ‘Bio Medical Waste Management Kit’ into Telugu for CEE, New Delhi.
• Translated ‘Disaster Management’ Manual into Telugu for CEE –Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India
• Editorial Board Member of Telugu Text Books of 6, 7 and 8^th standards published by State Council of Education, Research and Training (SCERT), Hyderabad under ‘Environmental Education in School System (EESS)’ World Bank funded Project
• Green Teacher, Green Action Guide, Green Club, Green Games and Forest Tales (‘Harita Pustaka Mala’ Series, translated from English into Telugu and published by Center for Environment Education)
• Developed Training Manuals ‘Mana Neeru’- Our Water (2 Parts) for Centre for Environment Education, Hyderabad. These manuals were used in the training programmes organized for school teachers in Andhra Pradesh

• Maintained regular weekly features in Telugu weeklies and dailies on Consumer Rights and Responsibilities
• ‘Sadviniyogam’ in Andhra Prabha Weekly for 5 years
• ‘Viniyogam’ in Andhra Bhoomi Daily for one year
• Contributed articles on a regular basis to ‘Viniyoga Drushti’ in Udayam Daily and ‘Viniyogam’ in Andhra Jyoti Daily.

Trainer & Resource Person

• Offered services as a trainer in the workshops organized on Panchayat Raj, Local Self Governance, Citizen Charters, Community Forest Management, Consumer Rights, Right to Information, and Environment Education for various target groups.

Worked in Satyam Foundation as an Associate (in the role of Full Life Cycle Leader) in Environment Community Programme and later as an Associate Partner, Global Marketing Communications.

Achieved : ISO 9001-2000 Process owner of waste management project

• Worked as a consultant in CARE-STEP on Panchayatraj and Gender and later associated as a full time Consultant - Institutional Building in CARE-STEP, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh
• Worked as Programme Officer, Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA), South Regional Office. Facilitated multi-stakeholder dialogues and organized Interviews with Government Officials (at District level), NTPC-Parawada and villagers from surrounding NTPC villages on ‘Rights and Accountabilities’ programme of the Development Research Centre on Citizenship, Participation and Accountability for Institute of Developmental Studies, Sussex University, UK. The Book is edited by Peter Newell & Joanna Wheeler, Published by ZED Books.

• Worked as Project Officer, National Green Corps (NGC) in Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board, supported by CPR Environmental Education Centre, Chennai and received best performing project officer award from the Chief Minister Sri. N Chandrababu Naidu.
